Anna Jean Via, 80, of Sunset Drive, Lerona, died peacefully, with her family by her side on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Rockin' Chair Residential Care in Lerona. Born, July 21, 1942, in Pipestem, she was the daughter of the late Fred Davis Granam and Zona Wyatt Granam. Jean was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her Lord, her family especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Jean was a faithful member of the Maple View Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Sanford, CO High School and retired with 20 years service from the Mercer County Board of Education as a cook at Athens High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver Cooper and Earl Cooper. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Charles Edward "Eddie" Via; Two children, Cami Lynn Maxwell and husband Emory, Scott E. Via and wife Beth; Four grandchildren, Adam Casey Maxwell and wife Kaitlyn, Sean Emory Maxwell, McKennzie Rhinerson and husband Jordan and Zander Via; Two sisters, Etta Sue Lilly and husband Darrell, Margaret Lou Watring; One brother, Leroy Davis Granam and wife Wilma; Several nieces, nephews and her church family also survive. The family would like to thank the precious people of the Rockin' Chair family who have been so kind, helpful and compassionate during these difficult weeks, you have helped carry our burden which was more than we could handle at times without your help. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jean Via will be held at 11:00 A.M., January 17, 2023, from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road with Ministers Richard Via and Jeremiah Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Maple View Church of Christ, 194 Robins Rest Road, Bluefield, WV 24701. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
