Obituary

Age 74 born in Maine on May 14, 1949 to the late Roland and Emelda (Ouellette) Toussaint. Anita was of the Baptist faith. She graduated high school in 1967 and worked as a nurse's aide her junior and senior year. She was employed as a waitress for many years and worked for Converse (Making Tennis Shoes). Upon moving to West Virginia in 1977 she also worked as a nurse's aide, as a Keno Operator for the West Virginia State Lottery, a bus driver for Mercer County Economic Opportunity Corp. (MCEOC), and a part-time bartender. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3112 in Bramwell, West Virginia since 1992, and then became a member at large in 2007 in Sophia, West Virginia. Anita loved the outdoors and the environment and she became a member of the Arbor Day Foundation in 2015. She was a homemaker and known by many for her homemade rolls. In addition, Anita had a desire and passion for charity work to help others in need. She annually offered her services to help with The Mercer County Hunger Challenge (Heaven Sent Ministries); she helped organize The Labyrinth Walk for Humanity in Mercer County feeding 30 - 40 commmunity families at Goodwyn's Chapel Church of Christ located in Oakvale, West Virginia. She also provided her volunteer services at Urban Ministries in Raleigh, North Carolina and assisted in a General Basic Necessities Drive (GBN Drive) for Recovery Point of Huntington, West Virginia (a cornmunity and government Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center). She worked tirelessly assisting with mission work for Heaven's Missing Angels Feeding Schemes, and 'Sowing Seeds of Love' located in South Africa by providing and collecting soup bowls, spoons, Bibles and garden seeds. Her highlight was her involvement in Bible Distribution in at least 15 states and overseas. She also spent countless volunteer hours with a local poet and kindred spirit proofreading, shooting, and editing photography for a poetry collection. Gifted in providing encouragement, uplifting prayers, and a physical presence, Anita always served when asked. Her presence during charity events were a blessing to many and her loyal kind nature to her friends, those needing a hand up, and to the homeless made her shine. Anita was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Freddie M. Dunn, a sister, a brother. Survivors: Daughter, Heidi Lynn Bolden of Raleigh, North Carolina, Stepdaughter Maria (Charlie) Johnson of Rock, West Virginia. Grandchildren: Kristen (Scott) Leippi, Matthew Scott, and two great-grandchild, Jordyn Kynleigh Leippi and Riley Carson Leippi. Sisters: Lorraine Day, Lena (Marcel) Sirois, Rella Poulin, all of Augusta, Maine. Brothers: Norman Toussaint (Suzzane) of Bridgewater, Maine and Old Town, Florida, Donald Toussaint (Kathy) of Claymount, Delaware, Daniel Toussaint (Debbie) of Frenchville, Maine. Anita leaves personal gratitude and thanks to every medical provider who has played a part in her upbeat nature and helping her cope with illnesses in a positive manner.  She also appreciates Four Seasons Pharmacy (Ken Reeves) who provided much insight anytime it was needed. She extends her thanks to the professionals; AlIena Coburn, Cameron Pennington, Lamont Vineyard, Sydney White, and 'Four Seasons Gift Gallery' for their kind and speedy service. Anita's caring nature is reflected in a Greek Proverb and the gift she leaves to future generations: "Planted trees under whose shade she knew she would never sit in."

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, West Virginia with Pastor Barry Early officiating. Online condolences may be shared via www.memorialfd.com . The family has honored Anita's request that she be cremated. Inurnrnent will follow at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, West Virginia.
