Alvin “Jake” Wood, 63, of Pine Grove Road, Lerona, died Monday, August 24, 2026, at home with family at his side. Born August 7, 1963, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Alvin Wood & Juanita Collins Wood. He spent his entire life working in construction as a heavy equipment operator. Jake was an avid NASCAR fan, his favorite racer was Dale Earnhardt and loved to hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant brother. Survivors include his siblings, Susan Wood & Donnie, Randy Wood, & Steven Wood & Sharon. Special niece, Kristie Matthew & David, great nieces, Nevaeh, Kayleigh & Skylar Matthews. His Caregivers, Donnie, Randy, Navaeh, Kristie & Susan along with Amedisys Hospice. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 31, 2026, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ronald Booher officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Family Cemetery on Pine Grove Road in Lerona. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
