Addie Sue Lockhart, 81, of Quail Valley, Princeton, died peacefully Friday evening, May 26, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born on August 6, 1941, in Iaeger, she was the daughter of the late W.A.Lambert and Grace Neal Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 38 years, Clyde (CD) Lockhart, her sister, Norma Sutphin, and sister-in-law Gerri Sue Miller Rotenberry. Sue received a B.S. in Education from Concord College. She began her 29 year teaching career in a one room school house on Long Pole in McDowell County, West Virginia. She went on to teach at Panther Elementary for 10 years, and finished out her teaching career at Iaeger Elementary. She was a member of the Iaeger Junior Women's Club for several years and served a term as president. Sue was a proud member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Princeton. Following her retirement in 1989, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband, CD Lockhart, cooking and canning, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include a Niece, who was like a sister, Clara Fife, and husband Rusty of Bluefield, VA. A great- niece, that was like her daughter, Lisa McCaskill, and husband Brian of Camden, SC. Two great- great nieces, that were her "babies" as she called them, Gracie and Clara Ann McCaskill. Sister-in-law, Patti Rae Fuller and husband Roger of Cedar Bluff, VA; Brother-in-law Robert Rotenberry of Princeton; Nieces, Crystal Richardson and husband Pete of Richlands, VA; Andy Scipio and wife Heather of Charleston, WV. Nephews, Jody and Sarah Jo Fuller of Bluefield, WV; Bryan and Lisha Miller of Bluefield, VA. Great nieces and nephews, Carson and Collin Richardson, Nicholas, Emma, and Aiden Miller, Cody, Caden, and Caleb Fuller, and Jacob Matthew and Emily Scipio. A special caregiver, Gay Smith of Bluefield, WV. A service to celebrate the life of Addie Sue Lockhart will be held at Noon, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor's Thurman Belcher & Kevin Belcher officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. Jody Fuller, Andy Scipio, Brian McCaskill, Bryan Miller, Nick Miller, Collin Richardson, Caleb Fuller, and Aidan Miller will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Rotenberry and Jimmy Welch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sweet Home Baptist church, 121 Willowbrook Road, Princeton, WV 24740. The Lockhart family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
