Bessie Pauline Smith, 78, of McNutt Avenue, Princeton, died peacefully Friday evening, August 30, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness. Born January 10, 1935 at Jumping Branch, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Ray Adkins and Rosa Belle Maddy Adkins Smith. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Athens Baptist Church in Athens. While her health permitted, she enjoyed crocheting, working with her flowers and most of all, raising tomatos in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Randolph Alexander Smith, a son Warren Dale Smith, her sister, Elizabeth Katherine Ward and a brother, Raymond R. Adkins Jr. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Ocal & Deborah Smith of Princeton. Four grandchildren, Ocal Ray Smith, Riner, VA, Jessica Renee Smith, Rocky Gap, VA, Warren Dale Smith II & wife Crystal, Princeton, WV & Misty Marie Hill & husband David, Fayetteville, WV. Brother in law, Willis Smith of Ratcliff KY. A host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ed Pettus officiating. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be, Dale Smith, David Hill, Bo Barker, Rick Dobbins, Tony Walters and Gary Cunningham. The Smith family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
